Day Five: Cutting of Pencil Skirts and 6-Pieces Skirt

The day six of my training went so well, the best of my five days sojourn so far.

I bought a yard of Linen for 120 Naira equivalent to $80 USD to practise, I cut a six pieces skirt by myself but it was not proportionate compared to the one my Tutor helped me cut out earlier.

I don’t have much energy to write for so long today, please find below for some PICTURES……..

Day 4: Home Practice with my Industrial Sewing Machine

Hey Guys, how are you keeping on?

Few Years back I bought an industrial sewing machine to be using for a tailoring business, unfortunately the guy working with me back then could not keep on because of his personal commitments, so I packed the machine somewhere.

Fast Forward to now (2015) I have decided to learn tailoring for three months and I am determined to make myself a household cloth maker in Nigeria and beyond

Too much story innit? today I tried to use the machine at home and it didn't work out well at all, it didnt sew NADA. So I'm going to service it over the weekend like I mentioned yesterday.

Check out some pictures of my struggle with the machine........ wink

Day 3: Sewing of Blouse, Wrapper and skirts cut

Wow!!!

I got a lot done today and I am so proud of myself *wink*

I was able to use some Pieces of clothes to make a blouse, I used needles and thread to patch it together, and also with the assistance of another apprentice, I was able to cut a six pieces skirt, you can check the pictures after the cut.

Hold your breath please, do not laugh :)

Day Two: Cutting of Blouse and BooBoo (Garment)

Today is my second day as an Apprentice, my morale was a bit low because I got to the shop quite late due to some errands that I have to run. I resumed work at 11:45am

It was kind of dramatic and strange when all other tailors around the shops gathered together to pray for me, a spiritual induction I will say (Funny). Afterwards, I bought a malt drink for each and everyone of them with biscuits, they were 24 in number.

Day One: Operated the sewing machine and Cut Iro and Buba

Today 12th of January was my first day and first attempt at tailoring.

I was able to run the machine and also hem two wrappers for a client, my Tutor was quite impressed with my speed, she said I have the zeal and passion and that I will learn really fast. YaaaY!

WELCOME MESSAGE

Hello Everyone, My Name is Aderonke Ogunleye-Bello, a professional journalist, currently based in Abuja, Nigeria.

I got married to my best friend on the 19th of December 2014 at my parents house in Ibadan, a day after the Court wedding which held at the Ibadan-North Local Government area, it was fun and it went well to the Glory of God.

However, after my marriage I decided to pick up an handiwork and I opted for Tailoring and Beading, which kick started yesterday at Wuse Market Abuja, My Tutor's name is Anty Joy.

On this blog, I will be updating my readers on my journey as a Tailoring apprenticeship and how I was able to combine Journalism with Tailoring classes.

Enjoy!
